In addition to the actual products, in modern logistics outer packaging, shipping packaging, transport tubs or even entire pallets must also be labelled quickly and effectively. In contrast to printing on products and goods themselves, large print or large character printing that is as visible as possible can be useful here to simplify and speed up further processing.
Today, large character printers typically come in 2 basic variants, once as stationary systems integrated into production lines or as portable manual labelling systems. Both types are usually based on the proven inkjet technology, which combines robust technology with economical use. While stationary systems cope very well with uniform objects - e.g. cardboard boxes, plastic tubs - the mobile hand-held devices allow a much more flexible use. Because they are manually guided along the print object, the surface does not have to be even or flat for large character printing. It can also be curved (barrels) or vary slightly from object to object (packed and foiled EURO pallets).
Even though simplified print patterns are often used for large character printers (e.g. dotted letters, screened characters), the amount of ink required should of course not be underestimated. It is therefore essential to proceed as economically as possible. The TIJ technology from Hewlett Packard is characterised by this and also offers further advantages. Since the print heads are integrated into the ink cartridges themselves, maintenance is usually not a problem. The quasi-standard that has been created means that there is a wide choice of manufacturers, which keeps prices down overall.
While specialised large character printers (e.g. pin embossers) often do not offer additional print formats, TIJ's strength lies in its separate control hardware. This can combine a wide variety of print formats with large print or switch between different formats. This means that not only texts and numbers can be printed, but also, for example, consecutive numbers, barcodes or QR codes. Mixing of any formats or dynamic adjustment of the print height are also possible with most models. Contactless printing also allows very high processing speeds.
Large character printers based on TIJ can also choose from a wide range of special inks. Besides normal inks, there are also inks with special properties (waterproof,...) or invisible UV inks.
In addition to normal cartridges, usually with a 42ml filling capacity, TIJ printers also allow so-called bulk systems with an external ink supply. Particularly in the case of large ink requirements, these can further improve economic efficiency.
In our range of industrial marking equipment, we also have models that are specially designed for large print. TIJ systems for large print heights combine several ink cartridges that are vertically offset and are then addressed accordingly by the control software. Our handheld printer NJ-500 works with 2 1" cartridges and thus allows a print height of just over 5 centimetres. The same applies to our stationary model NJ-2000.
We also offer a wide range of TIJ inks for industrial use. We rely on the inexpensive and high-quality branded products of the manufacturer Mylan. For customers of regular and large quantities, we naturally also offer corresponding quantity discounts.
