Most people are familiar with fluorescent surfaces and bodies from discos and similar events, but perhaps also from their first home party with a black light lamp. from the first party at home with the black light lamp. UV colours are practically invisible under normal lighting conditions. Only they become visible when irradiated with UV light. This property makes them a popular eye-catcher not only at parties, but also interesting for many other applications. Other common names for UV ink are invisible ink, neon ink or black light ink.

Remark: In the printing sector itself, the term UV ink almost exclusively denotes UV-curing inks. The general use for UV fluorescent ink originates mainly from colloquial language.

Since we usually do not see the UV ink, we hardly notice its use in everyday life. We encounter it most often when checking the authenticity of large cash notes at the supermarket checkout. This is where the big advantage becomes apparent: the solution is fast and effective - and at an economical cost.

UV ink for hand printers and marking systems

In industrial production, labelling and marking is usually carried out fully automatically by means of appropriate marking systems. marking systems or, on a smaller scale, increasingly by means of portable hand-held printers. These systems typically use Hewlett Packard's proven TIJ technology, which combines ink and printhead in one cartridge. The cartridges have electronic contacts that can then be used to individually control the nozzles of the print head. Inks with TIJ technology can usually be recognised by the designation HP 45A or HP 45Si.

General and Mylan UV Ink / Black Light Ink

We distribute high-quality TIJ ink products from the Japanese manufacturer General and the Vietnamese company Mylan. These include the UV inks General Q248S (red colour) and General IQ249S (blue colour), as well as Mylan SecuJET® and SoluJET® on a solvent basis. These are fast-drying inks for semi-porous and non-porous materials and of course they are only visible under UV light. The inks are particularly suitable for various packaging films, PE, PET, PP and coated blister films. General Q248S (RED) and IQ249S (BLUE) are suitable for use in many professional printers and marking systems as well as, of course, in our NasaJet® hand printer.

We are happy to advise you on the selection of suitable invisible UV inks for your specific application.
